郴义县（923-976年）治所（傅林祥编写）

五代后唐同光中，为避庄宗李存勖祖父李国昌讳，以义昌县改名。⑴治所在今湖南汝城县驻地城关镇南城头寨。⑵北宋太平兴国元年（977）改名桂阳县。⑶

⑴元?脱脱：《宋史》卷88《地理四》：“桂阳，中。唐义昌县，后唐改郴义。太平兴国初，又改。”（中华书局，1977年校点本，第7册，第2200页）
《十国春秋》卷112：“旧为义昌县，后唐同光中避庙讳更名曰郴义。”
按：因是避庙讳而改，当在同光元年。
