隋大业三年（607年）改梓州为新城郡，辖县五：郪县、射洪县、盐亭县、通泉县、飞鸟县①。唐武德元年（618年）改为梓州②。
①《舆地广记》卷31《梓州路》条：“隋改新州曰梓州。大业初置新城郡，改昌城曰郪”。
②《太平寰宇记》卷82《》梓州条：“西魏又于此立昌城郡。至隋开皇十八年废郡，改新州为梓州，取梓潼江为郡名。炀帝初废州改为新城郡。唐武德元年改为梓州，领郪、射洪、盐亭、飞鸟、通泉五县”。",
