隋开皇三年（583年），废盘龙郡、宕渠郡、金迁郡、白马郡、义阳郡、隆城郡，隆州辖县九：阆内县、南部县、汉昌县（开皇十八年改为苍溪县）、汉安县（开皇十八年改为南充县）、相如县、晋城县、西水县、奉国县。大业三年（607年）改为巴西郡①。
①《北周地理志》卷4《山南上》隆州条，盘龙郡领阆中县、南部县、汉昌县，南宕渠郡领汉安县、相如县，金迁郡领晋安县、晋城县、西水县，白马郡领奉国县、义阳县。《太平寰宇记》卷86《剑南东道5》阆州条：“隋开皇中郡废而州存，兼改阆中为阆内县。大业初州废，并其地入巴西郡”。《太平寰宇记》卷86《剑南东道5》晋安县条：“四夷县道记云梁于此置金迁戍，周闵帝改为金迁，仍置为（晋）安、晋城、西水三县以属焉，郡理晋安。隋开皇三年罢郡，仍省晋安县，自今县东十四里移晋安县于晋城旧理。唐武徳元年改晋城为晋安县，即今理也”。",
