西魏废帝二年（553年）置蒙山郡，隶邛州，辖县二：始阳县、蒙山县。隋开皇三年（583年）郡废①。
①《太平寰宇记》卷77《剑南西道6》雅州：“后魏废帝二年始更招移民，渐垦植，因侨立?山郡于此，领始阳、?山二县，属卭州。自后人戸稍繁，田赋有叙。隋开皇十三年废郡，乃立雅州。炀帝初州废，以其地并入临卭郡”。《隋书》卷24，地理上》严道县条：“西魏置，曰始阳县，置蒙山郡。开皇初郡废”，第827页。",
