西魏废帝二年（553年）置蒙山郡，属邛州。辖县二：始阳县、蒙山县。隋开皇三年（583年）废郡，改属邛州①。
①《太平寰宇记》卷75邛州：“《禹贡》梁州之域，汉置十三州，在益州之部。梁益州刺史萧范于蒲水口立垒栅为城，以税生獠，名为蒲口顿。《周地图记》云：梁武陵王萧纪于蒲水口始置邛州，取南界邛来山为名，未为郡县。后魏废帝二年定蜀，又置临邛、蒲源、蒲阳、蒙山四郡以属之。蒲阳郡领依政一县。此前邛州在今西南二里，无复其迹。周闵帝元年移于今所。”《太平寰宇记》卷77《剑南道4》雅州条：“后魏废帝二年，始更招移民，渐垦植。因侨立蒙山郡于此，领始阳、?山二县，属卭州。自后人戸稍繁，田赋有叙。隋开皇十三年废郡，乃立雅州。炀帝初，州废，以其地并入临卭郡。唐武徳元年复为雅州，领严道、名山、卢山、依政、临卭、蒲江、临溪、蒙阳、汉源、火井、长松、灵闗、阳启、嘉良、大利、阳山十六县”。案：《隋书》载为开皇三年废郡，在此以废入邛州记。",
