刘玄更始元年（23年），繁穰县更名为阳邑县，属太原郡①。治所仍在今太谷县阳邑村。晋泰始元年（265年），属太原国②。北魏太平真君九年（448年），省③。

太原郡，秦置。十六城：晋阳、界休、榆次、中都、于离……。
按：据《汉书?王莽传》载，公元23年，王莽被杀，新亡。两年后，刘秀即帝位，改元建武，东汉从此始。因确定榆次县复名年代为东汉建武元年（25年）。

据《后汉书?刘玄刘盆子列传》所载，更始元年九月，王莽败亡，时天下当全复汉旧名。因确定阳邑县恢复年代为刘玄更始元年（23年）。
