蒙古窝阔台汗六年（1234年），固州复名马邑县，属朔州①。明因之②。清嘉庆元年（1796年）省入朔州为乡③。

《大清一统志》卷一百十一?朔平府
马邑县，“汉马邑县地。隋善阳县地。……晋天福初入于辽。金贞祐二年升为固州，元复为马邑县，仍属朔州。”
按：固州复名马邑县无确年，天兴三年（1233年）蒙古灭金，故确定蒙古窝阔台汗六年（1234年）为马邑县复名时间。

　朔州，下。“唐改马邑郡为朔州。后唐升(镇)[振]武军。宋为朔宁府。金为朔州。元因之。领二县：鄯阳、马邑。
