元佑元年（1086）和川县复名①，属晋州（后升平阳府）。治所在今安泽县北和川镇。元至元四年（1267）废②③。

①《宋史?地理志》平阳府和川：“太平兴国六年废沁州，以县来属。熙宁五年省为镇入冀氏。元佑元年复为县。”

②《读史方舆纪要》平阳府岳阳县和川城：“在县东北十里。后魏建宁初，分禽昌地置义宁县，属义宁郡。隋初郡废，县改曰和川，属沁州。大业初废。义宁初，复分沁源县置，属沁州。唐因之。宋改属晋州。熙宁五年，省入冀氏县。元佑初，复置。金因之。元省入岳阳。今名和川里。《志》云：县东北九十里有故唐城，相传尧都故址。”
