元大德九年（1305）忠孝县复名浮山县，属于晋宁路总管府。治所在今浮山县。明清属平阳府①②③④，民国迄今县名不改。民国初属河东道。1928年直属山西省。

①《明一统志》平阳府浮山县：“在府城东九十里，……金复为浮山县，属平阳府。元仍旧。本朝因之。编户一十八里。”（卷二十）
②《读史方舆纪要》平阳府浮山县：“在府东九十里。北至岳阳县四十里，东至泽州沁水县百二十五里，南至翼城县七十五里，西南至太平县百三十里。本汉襄陵县地。高齐省入禽昌，隋复置。唐武德二年，析置浮山县，属晋州。四年，改曰神山。宋因之。金大定七年，复曰浮山。兴定四年，更名忠孝。元仍曰浮山。今城周四里有奇，编户十七里。”（中华书局2005年4月第1版，卷四十一，1878页）
