清顺治八年（1651年），阳和府更名阳高卫，属大同府。雍正三年（1725年），更名阳高县。

光绪《山西通志》卷二十八《府州厅县考六》?大同府
阳高县，“国朝顺治三年，并高山卫为一，曰阳高卫。五年，移大同府来治，升为阳和府。八年，复为卫，……雍正三年，改为阳高县，隶大同府。” （中华书局P2497～2498，1990年。）
《乾隆《大同府志》卷一《沿革》阳高县。明县废，置阳和卫，徙高山卫合之，属行都指挥使司 。 “
国朝顺治三年并为阳高卫（此阳高得名之始），五年移大同府来治，升为阳和府。” （大同市方志办整理重印P37，2007年。）
《清史稿》卷六十《志》三十五?地理七?山西大同府，“初因明制，领州四，县七。雍正中，增阳高，天镇。……阳高，……雍正三年，以阳高卫降置”。（中华书局P2035～2036，1977年。）",
