清乾隆三十七年（1772年）赵城县改属霍州，辖区扩大，自此霍州领县二：赵城、灵石①②。治所在今霍州市。1912年改霍县。

界线

其时霍州辖境相当于今天霍州市和灵石县以及洪洞县北部地，北界即今介休县义棠镇①。南界即今洪洞县南王乡西南的苗村②。东界北段即今灵石县静升镇东的介旌村，南段即今古县城关镇北的马家庄③。西界即今汾西县僧念镇④。西南界即今洪洞县双昌乡西北的上村⑤。
注：
①北界：明成化《山西通志》卷二?疆域?灵石县：“北抵介休县义棠村”（中华书局P35，1998年）1995年《山西省地图集》介休县有“义棠镇”，当是。
