唐乾元元年（758年）改常山郡置。⑴治真定县（今河北正定县驻地正定镇）。大历三年（768年），析行唐县往属泜州，鼓城、栾城县来属，⑵辖境变化。

按：行唐县往属泜州之事，并见《旧唐书?代宗纪》：大历三年三月，“割恒州卫唐县置洹州，以灵寿、恒阳隶之”栾城县来属之事，《新唐书?地理志》作大历二年，《旧唐书?地理志》作大历三年，《元和志》仍属赵州，《寰宇记》作“唐大历三年与定州鼓城同隶恒州”，现暂作大历三年一起改属。“卫唐县”无考。",
