约北周武帝宣政元年（578年）析置蒲吾郡，⑴辖境缩小，辖常山、真定、井陉等县。为恒州治。⑵隋开皇三年（583年）废。⑶

⑴《隋书》卷30《地理中》：“灵寿，后周置蒲吾郡，开皇初郡废。”（北京，中华书局，第3册，第856页）
按：《隋书?地理志》未言置蒲吾郡具体年份。据《周书》卷6《武帝纪下》（中华书局，第1册，第105页），是在宣政元年（578年）置恒州，当作同年置。
