约蒙古太祖十九年（1224年）改武强县置。⑴治所即今河北武强县西南武强镇。⑵领武邑、静安2县。太宗六年（1234年）复为武强县。

⑴《元史》卷58《地理一》：“武强……元初创立东武州，领武邑、静安。太宗六年，废州复为县，改隶深州。”（第5册，1358页）
邱树森主编《元史辞典》：“东武州，州名。元太祖十九年（1224），立东武州，隶南平路，治武强县和司候司（今河北武强西南旧城）。太宗六年（1234），省司候司，罢。”（山东教育出版社，2002年版，第439页）
按：《元史?地理志》安平县下云太祖十九年改安平县为南平州，与东武州地理位置相近，现暂作东武州与南平州同时置。又，《元史?地理志》明确记载是废武强县置，领武邑、静安2县，故不从《元史辞典》之说。
