后周显德二年（955年）降景州置，隶沧州。⑴治所即今河北省东光县驻地东光镇。⑵北宋太平兴国六年（981）直隶京师。

⑴《五代会要》卷24：周显德二年“六月，废景州为定远军，所管东光、弓高两县隶沧州，安陵县隶德州。”（上海古籍出版社，1978年，第388页）
《寰宇记》卷六八：“周显德二年，废景州为定远军，县属沧州。”
《元丰九域志》卷2《河北路》：“唐景州。周降为定远军，隶沧州。皇朝太平兴国六年以军直隶京师 ，景德元年改永静。治东光县。”（中华书局，第73页）
⑵按：定远军的治所，无明文记载。因后梁开平二年（天祐五年。908年）景州移治东光县（《太平寰宇记》卷68），北宋定远军及此后的永静军也治东光县，又未见定远军有迁治的记载，应该也是治东光县。",
