唐武德元年（618年）改武安郡置。⑴治永年县（今河北永年驻地东南广府镇）。领永年、洺水、平恩、清漳等四县。武德四年（621年）增领曲周、鸡泽二县。武德六年（623年），磁州之武安、临洺、肥乡三县来属，⑵辖境扩大。
