北宋建隆元年（960年）以鹤城县改名。⑴治所即今河南长垣县驻地西南十里“司家坡”。⑵属东京开封府。金初迁治。⑶

⑴《宋史》卷86《地理二》：“长垣，隋匡城县，建隆元年，改为鹤丘，后又改。”（中华书局，第7册，第2122页）
《元丰九域志》卷1：“建隆元年改匡城县为长垣。”（中华书局，第2页）
按：当作同年改。
⑵嘉庆《长垣县志》卷五《地理书》：“明旧志：县西南司家坡即故匡城，正德十二年土人掘地得石，有匡城二字。”
⑶嘉庆《长垣县志》卷六《建置书》：“县城，金泰和八年避水患徙治于柳冢村，地名鲍堌，今曰旧城集。元因之。”",
