约刘玄更始元年（公元23年）以直周县恢复旧名。⑴治所在今河北曲周县曲周镇一带。⑵东汉属巨鹿郡。⑶建安十七年（212年）属魏郡。⑷三国曹魏黄初二年（221年）属广平郡。⑸西晋因之。⑹

⑴按：王莽败后，全国复汉旧郡、县名，但何时复名，未详。据《后汉书》卷11《刘玄刘盆子传》：更始即帝位，建元曰更始元年（23年），“是时海内豪桀翕然响应，皆杀其牧守，自称将军，用汉年号，以待诏命，旬月之间，徧于天下”。（2册，469页）据此，姑作刘玄更始元年（23年）复旧名。
