西晋置。⑴治所在今河北涿州市东北长安城。⑵

⑴《晋书》卷14《地理上》，第2册，第425页。
⑵《太平寰宇记》卷70涿州：“阳乡故城，汉为县。故城在今县西北二十七里。是后汉省，晋复置为长乡。髙齐天保七年省，并入涿县。其城亦谓之长乡故城。”
乾隆《清一统志》卷6顺天府三：“阳乡故城，在固安县西北。汉初元五年，封广阳王子发为侯国，属涿郡。后汉废。晋复置长乡县，属范阳国。后魏曰苌乡。北齐废。《魏书地形志》范阳郡苌乡县有长乡城。《水经注》：《地理风俗记》曰：涿县东五十里有阳乡亭，即长乡县也。按《太康地记》涿有长乡，而无阳乡县。又《寰宇记》阳乡故城在今县西北二十七里，亦谓之长乡城。”
