秦县。⑴治所在今河北高邑县西南。⑵秦属恒山郡。汉属常山郡。新莽时改名多子县。⑶

⑴后晓荣：《秦代政区地理》：“河北省秦皇岛市出土战国赵兵器‘十一年房子令赵结戈’，铭文‘十一年方子令赵结下库工师*梁治’，‘方子’即‘房子’。房子，战国时本中山国地，赵武灵王时属赵国。从兵器铭文看，战国赵已经设置房子县。……二者互证，秦设置房子县，故址地在今河北省高邑县西南。”（社会科学文献出版社2009年版，第354页。）
⑵《元和郡县志》卷17：“房子故城，在縣西南十五里。本漢房子縣也。”（中华书局，第492页）嘉庆《清一统志》卷51：“房子故城，在髙邑縣西南。戰國時趙邑。《史記?趙世家》：敬侯十年，與中山戰於房子。又武靈王十九年，北畧中山之地，至於房子。恵文王二十四年，?頗將攻魏房子，抜之，因城而還。《後漢書?光武紀》：更始二年，光武擊正定、元氏、防子，皆下之。注：防與房同，古字通用。《元和志》：髙邑縣東北，至州五十里。北齊天保七年移髙邑縣於房子縣城東北十五里，即今縣也。《縣志》：俗呼其地曰倉房村。”（第9页B）

按：据《汉书》卷99中《王莽传中》：天凤元年（14年），“郡县以亭为名者三百六十，以应符命文也”。又曰：郡有内郡、近郡、边郡，“合百二十有五郡。九州之内，县二千二百有三”。（12册，4136—4137页）据此，姑作县在新莽天凤元年（14年）改名。",
