⑴《汉书》卷28下《地理志下》（中华书局，第6册，第1575页）巨鹿郡有廮陶县。
按：因无具体设置年份，暂作汉高祖五年置。
⑵《太平寰宇记》卷61：“臨平故城，漢以為縣，廢城在今（鼓城）縣東南。”（第3册，第1258页）
嘉庆《清一统志》卷28：“臨平故城，在晉州東南。漢置县，屬鉅鹿郡。《後漢紀》：建武四年，進幸臨平，即此。尋廢。《魏書?地形志》：曲陽縣有臨平城。章懐太子《後漢書注》：臨平故城在鼓城縣東南。”（第3页A）
河北省地方志编纂委员会编：《河北省志》第2卷《建置志》：“治今晋县晋州镇东南。”（河北人民出版社，1993年，第22页）
按：《续汉书?郡国志》无此县。《后汉书?光武纪》言光武四年夏四月至临平，说明当时尚有此县。《后汉书?光武帝纪》言建武六年省并县，当作该年省。",
