东汉光武帝建武元年（25年）以鄗县改名。⑴治所在今河北柏乡县东北。⑵东汉属常山国，为刺史治所。⑶三国魏属赵国。⑷西晋因之。⑸

嘉庆《清一统志》卷51：“鄗县故城，在柏乡县北。春秋时晋邑。《左传》哀公四年，齐国夏伐晋，取鄗。《史记》：赵武灵王三年，城鄗。《汉书王子侯表》：鄗侯丹，武帝时封。《后汉书》：建武元年，光武从蓟还至鄗，设坛场于鄗南千秋亭五成陌，即帝位，改鄗为髙邑。《元和志》：北齐天保七年移髙邑县于汉房子县东北界，今髙邑县是也。髙邑故城在柏乡县北二十一里。《新志》：俗名王莽城，今有故城市。”（第9页）
