约刘玄更始元年（公元23年）以桓亭郡恢复旧名。⑴治邯郸县（今河北邯郸市）。⑵东汉光武帝建武五年（公元29年）复封为赵国。⑶

⑴按：王莽败后，全国复汉旧郡、县名，但何时复名，未详。据《后汉书》卷11《刘玄刘盆子传》：更始即帝位，建元曰更始元年（23年），“是时海内豪桀翕然响应，皆杀其牧守，自称将军，用汉年号，以待诏命，旬月之间，徧于天下”。（2册，469页）据此，姑作刘玄更始元年（23年）复旧名。
又按：新莽改赵国为桓亭郡，东汉置赵国在建武五年，此时当为恢复邯郸郡之名。
⑵《汉书》卷28下《地理志下》：“邯郸，堵山，牛首水所出，东入白渠。赵敬侯自中牟徙此。张晏曰：邯郸山在东城下。单，尽也。城郭从邑，故加邑云。”（中华书局，第6册，第1631页）
《畿辅通志》卷54：“邯郸旧城，在今邯郸县西南。《名胜志》：旧城在今治西南八里，俗呼为赵王城，世传赵敬侯自中牟徙都居此。《舆城记》：邯郸城大数十里。今县城及故城皆是。”
史念海《秦县考》有邯郸县（《禹贡》第7卷第6、7合期，第316页）
