唐载初元年（689年）真阳县改名淮阳县，属豫州。治所在今河南省正阳县北四十里。①
唐神龙元年（705年），淮阳县改名真阳县。②

注：
	① 《大清一统志》卷二百十六：“慎阳故城，在正阳县北四十里。汉高帝十二年，封栾说为侯国。元狩五年，国除为县，属汝南郡。颜师古《汉书》注，慎字本作滇。阚骃云，永平五年，失印更刻，遂误以水为心也。刘宋改为滇阳。水经注，慎水东迳慎阳县故城南，县取名焉。元和志，真阳县，北至蔡州一百里，明移今治。”（《续修四部丛刊》，上海：商务印书馆，1934年。）
