隋开皇十六年（596年）改名伊阙，属洛州，大业元年（605年）属豫州，三年（607年）属河南郡（1）。唐属洛州，开元元年（713年）属河南府（2）。宋熙宁五年（1072年）废为镇，入河南，次年隶伊阳（3）。治今河南伊川西南平等乡新城遗址（4）。
