    隋开皇十六年（596年）复置，属岩州（1），大业二年（606年）废 （2）。治今河南林县东南临淇镇（3）。

注：
（1）《隋书》卷30《地理志中》：魏郡林虑，后魏置林虑郡，后齐郡废，后又置。开皇初郡废，又分置淇阳县。十六年置岩州，大业初州废。临淇，东魏置，寻废。开皇十六年复。（北京，中华书局，1973年，3册，847页）
（2）清乾隆《林县志》卷1《疆域志?沿革》：后周平齐复置林虑郡，隋开皇三年郡再废，又析置淇阳县，十六年改置岩州，大业二年州废复为县，并淇阳县，属魏郡，其临淇县亦废入焉。按：《两唐书》无临淇县，《隋志》未记何时废县，今从县志。
