开元十八年（730），分兴道县置华阳县。天宝元年（742），属洋川郡。天宝十五年（756），成为洋川郡治。乾元元年（758），属洋州。（1）光启三年（887），属武定军。（2）景佑四年（1037），属洋州。（3）元至元二年（1265），省兴道、真符二县入洋州。（4）

（1）、《旧唐书》卷39志19地理二：“洋州下 隋汉川郡之西乡县。武德元年，割梁州三县置洋州。四年，又置洋源县。天宝元年，改为洋川郡。乾元元年，复为洋州。旧领县四，户二千二百二十六，口一万八千六十。天宝领县五，户二万三千八百四十九，口八万八千三百二十七。在京师南八百里，至东都二千里。西乡，本汉成固县地，蜀立西乡县。后魏于此置洋州，以水为名。黄金，汉安阳县地，属汉中郡。后魏置黄金县，水名也。隋县治巴岭镇，贞观三年，移于今治。兴道，隋兴势县。贞观二十三年，改为兴道。洋源，武德七年，分西乡县置。真符，开元十八年，分兴道置华阳县。天宝七年，改属京兆，仍改为真符。十一年，还属洋川郡。”（中华书局，1975年，第1533页）。
