唐至德元年（756），安静县改名保静县，属灵武大都督府，①治所在今宁夏永宁县东北黄河西。
唐乾元元年（758），复改属灵州。②

① 李吉甫：《元和郡县图志》卷4《关内道》四：“保静县，上，西南至州六十里。本汉富平县地，后魏立弘静镇，徙关东汉人以充屯田，俗谓之汉城。隋改置弘静县，神龙元年改为安静，至德元年改为保静。”（北京：中华书局，1983年，第94页。）

③ 乐史：《太平寰宇记》卷36《关西道》12：“灵州，灵武郡。今理回乐县。……元领县六。今一：回乐。五县废：怀远，灵武，保静，温池，鸣沙。今领镇七管蕃户：清远，昌化，保安，保静，临河，怀远，定远。”（北京：中华书局，2007年，第760页。）据此可知，《太平寰宇记》撰著时期，灵州下除回乐县外，其余诸县均已废为镇。《太平寰宇记》中疆域政区沿革以北宋雍熙4年（987）为断，姑取北宋开国916年至987年中点974年为县废之年。",
