隋开皇3年（583），番禾军改为番禾县。治所在今甘肃省永昌县焦家庄乡水磨关南1公里处。① 
唐武德2年（619），改属凉州。
唐咸亨元年（670 ）改属雄州。
唐调露元年（679），复改属凉州。
唐天宝三年（744），改为天宝县。②
