隋大业九年（613）置，属朔方郡。①唐贞观七年（633）于县置北开州。八年改为化州。十三年废化州，县属夏州。②宋末于西夏。治今陕西榆林市。③ 

注：
①《太平寰宇记》卷37?关西道十三?夏州?德静县：后周建德二年，于此置弥浑县，以县南有弥浑水，为邑名。又立六胡州，在邑之北。隋开皇三年，改弥浑县为德静镇。至大业九年，废镇立县，仍立朔方。
②《旧唐书》卷38?志第十八?地理一?夏州：德静，隋县。贞观七年，属北开州。八年，改北开州为化州。十三年，废化州，以县属夏州。（中华书局，1975 年，5 册，1414 页）
