前凉张骏以狄道为降狄道，不久复曰狄道①。北魏属武始郡。唐天宝三载（744 年）属狄道郡②，宝应元年（762 年）陷于土蕃③。治所在今甘肃省临洮县
①《嘉庆重修一统志》卷252?兰州府?狄道州条：“晋初因之，惠帝时为狄道郡治，张骏改县曰降狄道，为武始郡治，寻复曰狄道。后魏属武始郡。”（《四部丛刊续编》，商务印书馆，1934 年，2314 册）
②《新唐书》卷40《地理志四》陇右道临州狄道郡条：“天宝三载析金城郡之狄道县置。”中华书局1975 年版，第1042 页。《旧唐书》卷40《地理志三》陇右道兰州条：“天宝元年，改金城郡。二载，割狄道县置狄道郡。”中华书局1975 年版，第1633 页。同书临州下都督府条“天宝三载，分金城郡置狄道郡。乾元元年，改为临州都督府，”第1634 页。同书狄道条“狄道汉县，属陇西郡。晋改为武始县。隋复为狄道，属兰州。天宝三载复置。”第1634 页。故从天宝三载。《太平环宇记》卷151 陇右道二兰州条：“天宝元年，改为金城郡。二载，割狄道县置狄道郡。乾元元年复为兰州”。
