宋大观二年（1108 年）收复，仍曰洮州，属秦凤路。金屬臨洮路。元初屬鞏昌路，後屬吐蕃等處宣慰司。明洪武四年（1371 年），改洮州为洮州千户所，属河州①。治所在今甘肃省临潭县东新城乡②。
