明嘉靖四十年（1561 年）废岷州，仍置军民指挥使司①。清雍正四年（1726 年），裁卫，改置岷州厅②。治所在今甘肃省岷县③。
①《明史》卷42《地理志三》陕西：“洪武四年正月置岷州千户所，属河州卫。十一年七月升为卫，属陕西都司。十五年四月升军民指挥使司。嘉靖二十四年又置州，改军民指挥使司为卫。四十年闰五月，州废，仍置军民指挥使司。”中华书局1974 年版，第1011 页。
