北周孝闵帝元年（557 年）改当亭县为冀城县，属天水郡，寻废入黄瓜县①。治所在今甘肃甘谷县东②。
①《隋书》卷29《地理上》天水郡：“冀城，后周曰冀城县，废入黄瓜县。大业初改曰冀城”，中华书局1973 年版，第813 页。《嘉庆重修一统志》卷255 巩昌府伏羌县条：“后魏真君八年改置当亭县，仍属天水郡。后周改曰冀城，寻省入黄瓜县。”（《四部丛刊续编》，商务印书馆，1934 年，2315 册）。
