宋崇宁三年（1104 年）升宁远寨为宁远县，属巩州①。金废为寨②。治所在今甘肃武山县③。

②《明一统志》卷35《巩昌府》宁远县条：“宁远县，在府城东九十里，本唐陇西县地。宋置宁远寨，崇宁中升为县。金仍废为寨。元以来远镇省入，至元中升寨为宁远县。本朝因之”《四库全书》本，台湾商务印书馆1986 年影印。《元史》卷60《地理三》巩昌府宁远条载：“宁远，下。伏羌，下。本旧寨，至元十三年升县。通渭，下。鄣县。下。宋名盐川寨，金为镇，至元十七年，置今县。”中华书局1976 年版，第1429 页。《读书方舆纪要》卷59《陕西八》巩昌府宁远县条：“府东九十里。唐陇西县地。宋元祐中，置宁远寨。崇宁三年，升为县。金仍废为寨。元至元中，复置宁远县。”中华书局2005 年版，第2819 页。段案：宁远升县应早于伏羌、鄣，故暂定为正元元年。
