元太宗六年（1234 年），灭金，复置西宁县，属会州①。元至元七年，并入会州②。治所在今甘肃会宁县③。

①《嘉庆重修一统志》卷255 巩昌府会宁县条：“金置西宁县，属秦州。贞祐四年升为西宁州。寻复为县，属会州。元初移会州来治，属巩昌路。”（《四部丛刊续编》，商务印书馆，1934 年，2315 册）。案：同书卷275《秦州直隶州二》鸡川废县条：“金升为鸡川县，属秦州，贞祐四年改属西宁州。元至元七年省入秦安县。”（《四部丛刊续编》，商务印书馆，1934 年，2320 册）。《金史》卷26《地理下》秦州西宁条：“贞祐四年十月升为西宁州，以甘谷、鸡川、治平三县隶焉”，中华书局1975 年版，第647 页。则西宁州仍存至金末。孛兰肸、岳铉等修《大元大一统志》（下）卷586 废西宁县条：“本秦州甘泉堡。金大定二十二年十二月升为县，有司言延安府已有甘泉县，改为西宁县。贞祐四年十月升为州，以甘谷、鸡川、治平三县隶。治平本德顺之一寨也，金末兵乱并废。国朝开辟疆土，以西宁仍为县，属会州，至元七年并县入本州”国立中央图书馆出版1985 年版，第二—九—三五O——三五八页。
