宋元丰五年（1082 年）以汝遮堡为定西城，属通远军①。金太宗天会七年（1129 年），升定西城为县，属巩州②。治所在今甘肃省定西县③。
①《宋史》卷87《地理三》巩州定西城条：“定西，元丰四年，以兰州西使城为定西城。五年，改定西城为通远军，以汝遮堡为定西城，属通远军。”中华书局1977 年版，第2164 页。
