明弘治九年（1496年）复升亳县为州，属凤阳府。①即今安徽亳州市治。②清初因之。雍正二年（1724年）升为直隶州。十三年（1735年）改属颍州府。③1912年改为亳县。④
①《明史》卷40《地理志一》：“亳州，元属归德府。洪武初以州治谯县省入，寻降为县，属归德州。六年属颍州。弘治九年十月复升为州。”（第4册，915页）《明孝宗实录》卷118弘治九年十月癸卯“升直隶凤阳府亳县为亳州。”
