隋开皇十一年（591年）改新冶县为义乡县。属熙州。①治所即今安徽望江县治。②十八年（598年）改名望江县。③
①《隋书》卷31《地理志下》：同安郡“开皇初曰熙州。……望江县，陈置大雷郡。开皇十一年改曰义乡，十八年改名焉。”（第3册，876页）《太平寰宇记》卷125舒州望江县：“本汉皖县地。《宋书州郡志》晋安帝于此立新冶县，属晋熙郡，亦为大雷戍。……即新冶县也，历宋齐梁不改，至陈于新冶置大雷郡。开皇初郡废。十一年改为义乡县，属熙州。十八年又改为望江县。”（光绪金陵书局本）
②清嘉庆一统志》第36册，卷110《安庆府二古迹》：“大雷戍，今望江县治。……《旧志》宋末尝迁治于东流之香口镇。元初复还旧治。”即今安徽望江县治。
