南宋景定元年（1260年）升涟水军为安东州，治涟水县，属淮南东路（1）。治今江苏涟水县（2）。元至元八年（1272年）省涟水县入州，属淮安路（3）。明洪武二年（1369年）降为安东县（4）。
注：
（1）《宋史》卷88，地理志四》：淮南东路安东州，端平元年为涟水军，“景定初，升安东州。”县一，涟水（北京，中华书局，1977年，7册，2181页）
（2）按自隋开皇五年改襄贲县为涟水县，即移治于今涟水县，故唐宋至明清诸志皆不载涟水县之迁徙。
（3）《元史》卷59《地理志二》淮安路仅列安东州名，不记其沿革（北京，中华书局，1976年，5册，1417页）。《元史》及它志皆不及涟水县之废年，其废当在元初，姑定于至元八年（1272年）。
