隋大业三年（607年）改临沛县为萧县，属彭城郡（1），治今安徽萧县西北三台山（2）。唐武德四年（621年）属徐州，天宝元年（742年）属彭城郡，乾元元年（758年）属徐州（3）。五代、两宋（4）、金（5）因之。蒙古至元二年（1265年）废入徐州（6）。
注：
（1）《隋书》卷31《地理志下》：彭城郡萧县，北齐为承高县，“开皇六年改为龙城，十八年改为临沛，大业初改曰萧。”（北京，中华书局，1973年，3册，870页）按隋大业三年（607年）改州为郡，大业初县改名当在同时。
（2）清《嘉庆一统志》卷101《徐州府·古迹》：萧县故城，在萧县西北，“《旧志》，古萧国城，一名黄杨城，或谓之北城，宋时河决。乃改筑，南徙治焉。明万历五年（1577年），遂没于水，知县
武维翰乃迁治于三台山之南，西北去旧城十里，即今治也。”（《四部丛刊续编》，商务印书馆，1934年，33册，1——2页）按今萧县西北三台山（《安徽省地图集》，中国地图出版社，2002年，45页）则秦至明万历四年萧县治三台山。北齐天保七年改为承高县，隋开皇三年改为龙城县，十八年改为临沛县，大业三年复改为萧县。
