北宋大中祥符六年（1013年）改永贞县复为扬子县，为真州治（1）。治今江苏仪征县（2）。元至元十四年（1277年）为真州路治，二十一年（1284年）仍为真州治（3）。二十八年（1291年）迁治今仪征县东新城（4）。
注：
（1）《舆地纪胜》卷38《淮南东路》真州：大中祥符六年，“升建安军为真州。”治扬子县，南唐为永贞县，大中祥符六年改为扬子县，“至是徙为真之负郭。”（北京，中华书局影印本，1992年，2册，1611——1612页）即为真州郭下县。
（2）明《隆庆仪真县志》卷3《建置考》：“县治在城内西北隅，即真州治也。”（《天一阁臧明代方志选刊续编》，上海书店，1990年，15册，6页）按明代仪征县，即今仪征县，宋为真州治。
（3）《元史》卷59《地理志二》，北京，中华书局，1976年，5册，1414页。
（4）清《嘉庆一统志》卷96《扬州府·建置沿革》：仪征县，“元至元二十八年（1291年），移扬子县治新城。”（《四部丛刊续编》，商务印书馆，1934年，32册，3页）按今仪征县东新城（《江苏省地图集》，江苏省地图集编辑组，1978年，41页），即是。",
