元至正二十一年（1361年）重置江都县（1）。治今江苏扬州市（2）。为维扬府治，至正二十六年（1366年）为扬州府治，明代因之（3）。清代因袭（4）。1912年废扬州府存江都县（5）。
注：
（1）《明史》卷40《地理志一》：扬州府，元扬州路，“太祖丁酋年十月曰淮海府。辛丑年十二月曰维扬府。”（北京，中华书局，1974年，4册，917页）又云：江都县，“元末废，太祖辛丑年（即至正二十一年，1361年）复置。”（同上）按丁酋年，即至正十七年（1357年），江都县为淮海府治，辛丑年，即至正二十一年（1361年）为维扬府治，则其废当在至正十七年——二十一年之间，约在至正十九年（1359年），复置于至正二十一年（1361年）。
（2）《太平寰宇记》卷123《淮南道一》：扬州，“炀帝改为江都郡，移于坊内。”（金陵书局，光绪八年刊本，22册，1页）清《嘉庆一统志》卷96《扬州府·建置沿革》：江都县，隋开皇”徙江都县入郡郭。”（《四部丛刊续编》，商务印书馆，1934年，32册，2—3页）所谓“炀帝改为江都郡”
，乃指大业三年（607年）改扬州为江都郡同时，移江都县于郡郭坊内，为江都郡治。自开皇九年移江都县于江都郡内，即今扬州市，此后未曾徙治，直至清末。
