齐建元元年（479年）置，属东官郡（1）。治所在今广东省五华县西南龙村镇（2）。梁太平二年（557年）废（3）。

（1），《南齐书》卷14?州郡志上?广州?东官郡：领县六，有齐昌县。（北京，中华书局，1972年，1册，263页）。作齐建元元年置。
（2），《舆地纪胜》卷91?广南东路?循州?景物下：“齐昌溪，在长乐旧县南一百里，有齐昌县故名。发源本县罗翔里合丹阳水出梅潮州。”古迹：“故齐昌县，旧经云，在兴宁县东一百五十里，南齐县，隶东官郡。隋省。唐复立，至贞观元年省之。”（北京，中华书局，1992年，4册，2927、2928页）。按：宋兴宁县在今县北，其东一百五十里已入程乡县境，据齐昌溪条，旧经所云当为南一百五十里。宋兴宁县约在长乐县北五十里，则齐昌故县当在旧长乐县南一百里左右。今姑据里距和环境，定齐昌县于广东省五华县西南龙村镇。《一统志》谓在兴宁县北，不从。
（3），《嘉庆一统志》卷446?嘉应州?古迹?齐昌废县：“在兴宁县北。《齐志》东官郡领齐昌县。梁陈时废。”（《四部丛刊续编》，商务印书馆，1934年，171册）。作梁末太平二年废。",
