明洪武九年（1376年）四月以钦州降县，属雷州府（1）。治所即今广西钦州市（2）。十四年（1381年）五月复为州，属廉州府（3）。

（1），《明史》45?地理六?广东?廉州府：洪武元年为府。七年十一月降为州。九年四月属雷州府。十四年五月复为府。领州一，县二。钦州：“元钦州路，属海北海南道。洪武二年为府。七年十一月降为州。以州治安远县省入。九年四月降为县，来属。十四年五月复为州。领县一：灵山，州北。元属钦州。洪武九年四月属廉州。十四年五月仍属钦州。”（北京，中华书局，1974年，4册，1145页）。
（2），《嘉庆一统志》卷450?廉州府?古迹：安远故城“今钦州治。旧志：梁武帝分宋寿郡置安京郡。隋平陈郡废为安京县，属宁越郡。唐属钦州，至德二年改曰保京。宋初复曰安京，景德二年改曰安远县，仍属钦州。南渡后，移州来治，为倚郭县。明洪武七年，省入州。”（《四部丛刊续编》，商务印书馆，1934年，168册）。清钦州治所即今广西钦州市。
