隋开皇十七年（597年）以宋广县改名，属安州（1）。治所在今广西灵山县西南陆屋镇（2）。十八（598年）年又更名内亭县（3）。

（1），《隋书》卷31?宁越郡：“梁置安州，开皇十八年改曰钦州。”内亭县：“旧置宋广郡。平陈郡废，十七年改曰新化县，十八年改名焉。”（北京，中华书局，1973年，3册，885页）。
（2），《元和郡县图志》卷38?岭南道?钦州：“内亭县，东南至州一百里。本汉合浦县地，隋开皇十七年置，名新化，十八年改名内亭，属钦州。皇朝因之。”（北京，中华书局，下册，963页）。《读史方舆纪要》卷104?广东?廉州府?钦州?灵山县；“内亭废县，县西九十里。刘宋末置宋广县，属合浦郡，齐因之，梁置宋广郡。隋平陈郡废，县属钦州，开皇十七年改曰新化县，十八年又改曰内亭。唐武德五年，置南亭州于此，贞观二年州废，县仍属钦州。宋开宝五年废。”（北京，中华书局，1955年，5册，4316页）。
明崇祯十年《廉州府志》卷3?古迹?灵山县：“内亭县，在县治西九十里下甲乡陆屋村，遗址上存。”（中国书店，《稀见中国地方志汇刊》49册，1992年）。
据此，定新化县于今广西灵山县西南陆屋镇。
