宋太平兴国八年（983年），以保京县改名，属钦州（1）。治所即今广西钦州市（2）。景德三年（1006年）更名安远县（3）。

（1），《宋史》卷90?地理六?广南西路?钦州，宁越郡：“开宝五年，废遵化、钦江、内亭三县。天圣元年，徙州南宾寨。县二：灵山；安远，唐保京县，宋初改安京，景德中改今名。”（北京，中华书局，1977年，7册，2245页）。按：《寰宇记》钦州领县二：灵山，保京。《九域志》作景德三年改安京县为安远县。则保京改安京，当在太平兴国五年以后、景德以前，今作宋初太平兴国八年复改保京为安京。
（2），《嘉庆一统志》卷450?廉州府?古迹：安远故城“今钦州治。旧志：梁武帝分宋寿郡置安京郡。隋平陈郡废为安京县，属宁越郡。唐属钦州，至德二年改曰保京。宋初复曰安京，景德二年改曰安远县，仍属钦州。南渡后，移州来治，为倚郭县。明洪武七年，省入州。”（《四部丛刊续编》，商务印书馆，1934年，168册）。
