唐贞观六年（632年）置，属越州，八年属廉州（1）。治所即今广西合浦县东南古城村（2）。贞观十二年（638年）省入合浦县（3）。

（1），《唐书》卷43上?地理7：“廉州合浦郡，本合州，武德四年曰越州，贞观八年更名。县四：合浦，武德五年置安昌、高城、大廉、大都四县，贞观六年置珠池县，后以大都隶白州，十二年省珠池、安昌入焉；封山；蔡龙；大廉。”（北京，中华书局，1975年，4册，1111页）。
（2），《嘉庆一统志》卷450?廉州府?古迹?珠池废县：“在合浦县南。”关隘?珠场巡司：“明洪武中置，驻白龙城。”（《四部丛刊续编》，商务印书馆，1934年，168册）。按：合浦郡以产珠著称，珠池县设置当与此有关。今姑置珠池县于白龙城，即今合浦县东南古城村。
