元皇庆元年（1312年）迁置，属万安军（1）。治所即今海南省陵水县西南福湾村（2）。景泰元年（1324年）迁治港门（3）。

（1），《元史》卷63?地理六?湖广等处行中书省?万安军：唐万安州。宋更为军。“元至元十五，隶海北海南道宣慰司。领县二：万安，倚郭；陵水。”（中华书局，1976年，5册，1538页）。参见注（2）。
（2），《嘉庆一统志》卷452?琼州府?古迹：陵水故城：“在今陵水县东北。通志，唐初县治陵水峒博吉李村，在今县东北，元初迁南山头，皇庆间迁龙头村海边，后又迁港门，明洪武间筑城，正统间毁，迁于南山所即今治。”（《四部丛刊续编》，商务印书馆，1934年，170册）。据此，（1），作隋唐宋陵水县治陵水峒博吉李村，当即今陵水县东卜吉、里村间；（2），元至元十七年迁治南山头，即今陵水县治；（3），皇庆元年迁治龙头村海边，当是光绪陵水县图中的龙眼头村，即今陵水县西南海边福湾村；（4），后又迁作元泰定元年迁港门，当即今陵水县南大港村；（5），明正统七年迁治南山，即今陵水县治。
