（1），《唐书》卷43?岭南道?广州?新会县：“武德四年，以南海郡之新会、义宁二县置冈州新会郡，以地有金冈以名州，并析置封平、封乐二县。贞观十三年州废，省封平、封乐，以新会、义宁来属。”（北京，中华书局，1975年，4册，1096页）。
（2），《嘉庆一统志》卷448?肇庆府?古迹?封平废县：“在开平县东。…隋大业初废入义宁。唐武德四年复置，属冈州，贞观十三年仍省入义宁。县志，旧在新会县西七十里，今割入县界。”（《四部丛刊续编》，商务印书馆，1934年，167册）。据方位、里距，定封平县于今广东省开平县东北水口镇。
